A course providing the basis for the management of the national network of laboratory services has been prepared by Adalbert Laszlo, consultant for mycobacteriology services of the Union, and collaborators. This course was prepared on behalf of the Union and the World Health Organization. The course has been widely tested and been revised accordingly. This presents the year 2001 updated version.

It is targeted mainly for mycobacteriology laboratory specialists working at national or regional tuberculosis reference laboratories with an emphasis on public health aspects of laboratory services.
