For the comprehension of tuberculosis control, the student learns first about the etiologic agent, Mycobacterium tuberculosis, that is the bacteriologic basis of tuberculosis control.

Subsequently, its effect on the human individual is presented, that is the clinical presentation and clinical diagnosis of tuberculosis.

Tuberculosis is transmissible, thus its impact on the community, that is the epidemiologic basis of tuberculosis control, is presented.  This slide presentation deals exclusively with the third module, the epidemiologic basis of tuberculosis control.

Once the role of the etiologic agent, its impact on the individual and the community are understood, the types of interventions and their role in the control of tuberculosis can be discussed.
