One example how exposure risk may
change for a certain population segment is the change observed in the
number of children found at any time in a household, here in
Switzerland. At the beginning of the 20th century, the number of
children exposed in a household where a parent had tuberculosis was double
as large as at the end of the century. This will have important
repercussions on the risk of infection subsequent to exposure.
