Before going into the production of infectious nuclei, a few words are in place about the physical properties of droplets.  In moisture-saturated air, the time it takes for a droplet to fall to the ground is inversely proportional to its size: very small droplets take a long time to reach the ground from 2 meters above ground, while large ones reach it very fast.

The height above ground of 2 meters is taken as a rough approximation (though a bit exaggerated) from where standing adults talk.
