The development of the tuberculin
test required first a standardization of the tuberculin. Seibert's
work accomplished this with the purification of tuberculin. The amount
of tuberculin that was required to elicit a tuberculin skin test reaction
had to be determined. It was obvious that
among all the different administration techniques, the intradermal
application of tuberculin allowed the most correct dosing. It
had to be agreed upon what exactly should be measured. To
