Because of the potential of selecting resistance against rifampicin with monotherapy in the continuation phase of the retreatment regimen, The Union recommends the usage of pyrazinamide throughout the continuation phase if ethambutol is part of the continuation phase in the first-line regimen. It is not known whether this is efficacious nor how well it is tolerated.
