On the left is a boy with miliary
tuberculosis after two months of chemotherapy. On the right is the
same boy at completion of treatment. This
boy's tuberculosis might have been prevented with BCG vaccination which he
had not received. His tuberculosis might also have been prevented
had he been given preventive therapy when tuberculosis was diagnosed in a
person living with him in the same household. Fortunately,
the diagnosis of miliary tuberculosis was made and his disease
successfully treated with modern chemotherapy.
